Beauty Secrets.

See what I did there?
I tricked yall into thinking this post was filled with beauty secrets.

When really I NEED beauty secrets.
Any, Every & ALL of them

My skin is extremely bi-polar.
One day it's oily and gross.
The next it's dry and peeling.
like it's extreme.
I've been using pro-activ and it worked really well
for the first few months.
I feel like my skin is breaking out more than it should be now though.
(Shouldn't I have outgrown this crap by now?)
Anyways, I really want to start using just a normal cleanser that I can buy anywhere.
But I'm always terrified because my skin is so sensitive.
I've also heard that if you use pro-activ once you stop your skin just freaks out.
I don't want that to happen either. :(

HELP.
I also need advice on concealer.
My skin has been in the dry phase lately,
and I feel lik every concealer just dries it out even more.
Ugh Tell me your beauty secrets.

I ALSO want some really good anti-aging night cream.
My mom sells Avon so I've been using some of theirs but I dont LOVE it.
Anti-aging/under eye cream is what I want!
TELL ME EVERYTHING YOU KNOW.
Go!

  1. Hey love! Your story is very similar to mine: proactiv worked for me until suddenly it didn't! This isn't a cleanser that you can just pick up at the drug store, but it has really worked for me. The clinique acne solutions 3 step system. It's really changed my face. It's gentler and lasts longer than proactiv too! If you want more info on it, I do have a video on it (www.youtube.com/user/thegirljoey). Sorry, my computer is being wonky and won't let me just grab the link to the specific video, but it's there! Hope this helps! Oh! And something else that's super helpful is coconut oil. I won't go into the details but if you google beauty benefits of coconut oil, you'll find lots of stuff! Courtney at LittleMissMBA also did a whole post about it on her blog, too!

  2. Um Monica I second coconut oil. Ask me anything about it. I use it as my moisturizer and for Avery's bum. I literally use it for everything. For my face wash I use Boscia, I get it at ULTA and you know we have similar skin and it is awesome.

  3. I highly recommend CeraVe. It's a simple $11.00 cleanser you can buy from Wal-mart. It's simple and it works. A very important but small step is to wash your face twice. I clean mine once with a disposable cleaning cloth and then again with the cleanser. You never can get the make-up and dirt off with one wash. I also love clean and clear persa-gel-10 and Neutrogena 3-1 Hydrating Acne Treatment. I have been using all three for the past year and 4 months and haven't needed to change because they work. If your interested in my before and after pictures I can defiantly show you.

  4. You can also look into Michael Todd True Organics, there are a ton of reviews for it. You can only get it online but it's super easy. They aren't too expensive, and they have a Blue Algae Antibacterial toner that is to die for. They have little discovery kits you can purchase to try out the line without having to make a big commitment.

  5. Cetaphil Gentle Moisturizer! It's the best at keeping your skin clear and not being too harsh or breaking you out. Also using a Clarisonic will help. They're expensive but worth it. You will break out for a while when you start using it but that's because it's purging your skin of all impurities. After that stage you won't be able to live without your Clarisonic! It will make your face feel so, so clean.
Also try the Benefit Fake It Concealer. It has a moisturizer ring built around the concealer so it moisturizes and conceals at the same time.

Its the best for combination skin!!! Just go to her blog and I promise you all your skin and makeup Q's will be answered!!! Goodluck ;)

  8. Adding my endorsement to Coconut Oil. Scoop out a heaping tsp or so, cream it into your skin, rinse with a warm washcloth that you keep wet with running water. Clean skin! Softened too. I also use it as my moisturizer. My foundation goes on beautifully. 32 oz is around $6. Helllooo?

  10. My skin is usually really oily and I just switched to that new Clean & Clear Oil Absorbing Cream Cleanser and what a difference! My skin is a lot less oily then it was and I notice on days when I do not use it, my skin is gross. It also looks less oily for at least the first 6ish hours.. its great!

  11. I got a sample of a Mary Kay night cream thing that was great. I think it was like timewise or something. I need to order some soon. Also I recently started using Lorac double feature concealer, mostly for under my eyes. LOVE it. It doesn't dry my face out at all. And I order it on beauty.com. They have the best price.

  12. I used Pro-activ for around a year and had no problem going back to a regular skincare routine. I had the same crazy skin as yours, sometimes it would be dry and flaky over the same area that's breaking out, so frustrating. A few products that have really made a difference in my skin are the Say Yes to Tomatoes Skin Clearing Facial Mask and Neutrogena Ageless Intensives Deep Wrinkle Moisture. The mask I use once a week and I actually get compliments on how "glowy" my skin is, which is something I wasn't used to. It has really helped with the blotchiness and redness that my skin is very prone to. The moisturizer is my all time favorite-it doesn't break me out, is a great base for my primer, and actually makes my skin feel so soft, smooth and "plump". I'm so ambivalent about most skincare products-I usually try different things and move on when I get bored, but these products are staples for me. I also use Neutrogena Towelettes (the blue ones) to take my makeup off and love that they're so gentle on my skin but still get the job done.

  13. Love Cetaphil! I am currently using a Cetaphil cleanser for controlling oily skin, but I bet you would like the gentle cleanser, or the daily facial cleanser!

  15. I struggled for quite some time with acne! i tried dermatologist prescribed medication as well as a prescription cream.. and nothing..

the ONLY thing that helped my skin (and the only thing I still use to this day) is the Fresh Farmacy soap from the store LUSH (link below)

    http://www.lushusa.com/Fresh-Farmacy/00077,en_US,pd.html?start=1&cgid=cleansers

I literally saved my skin! I have been using it for almost two years now and I will never use anything else. The best part is, it's all natural stuff. It's made for acne/troubled skin

Secondly, a really outstanding face mask that I use once a week is this heavenly sent stuff.. it's also natural. I dont know what's in it, but it's truly MAGIC!

Hope that helps, girl. I know that everyone's skin is different, but I had acne, and this cured it over anything the dermatologist ever gave me! :)

  16. I really like all the Aveeno and Cetaphil products. They work very well and seem to take care of my issues. I have used many products and these seem to do the job well. I also like to use the equate wash clothes and coconut oil at night as well. The wash clotes removes any left over make up including that hard to remove mascara and te coconut oil makes my skin glow and soft. It doesnt clog or make my skin oily in any way. I feel this product is a better inexpensive way to keep my skin young and fresh looking without the inconvienience of traveling store to store and the extreme price most moisturizers carry. Its natural and healthy. Hope this helps!
