Let's Talk Makeup Reviews.

Y'all....I had a quarter life crisis last week.

So, lately I haven't been feelin' too hot.
And I mean that literally...
well not like temperature wise but physical appearance wise.

I have been struggling so hard with my face/skin.
I wash my face every morning with Cetaphil, moisturize, then apply makeup.
(the makeup part doesn't exactly happen every day but you get the point)

Every time I put on my makeup my face would get SO oily! Like literally 15 minutes later.
It was not cute, I constantly felt gross and that my skin was dirty.
I would put on my makeup and get in the car and look in the mirror,
and the girl looking back at me looked SO much older than 25...
I honestly was so confused, I did NOT feel like I looked that old without makeup,
but once I would get all ready I felt like every semi-wrinkle or line was like exaggerated.

It seriously NEVER crossed my mind that it could be the makeup I'm using.
I started using bare minerals a few years ago and I LOVED it at the beginning,
I'm not sure what has changed to make it start looking different but something definitely has.

And I am not so in love with it anymore.

My girlfriend Jenn introduced me to this fabulous website MakeupAlley.com
Millions of girls get on there and review all different kinds of makeup.
So I randomly decided to get on there and search the EXACT bare minerals products I have been using.

holy crap.

There were TONS of girls on there saying how bare minerals is a great make up BUT
it made their skin super oily and they had to blot regularly.
(Aint nobody got time for that!)
AND...Even more girls were saying how it made them look older!
That the makeup actually brought out their fine lines/wrinkles/flaws.
[btw I've been using the Matte Powder Foundation, & yes I've also tried original]

How did I never think of this before?!
I can't believe my makeup was making me look WORSE.
Y'all I have been freaking out!
I genuinely thought that I was aging prematurely.

Needless to say I washed my face and stopped using it immediately after reading those reviews.

Please don't think i'm bashing bare minerals,
they have excellent products but my skin just does NOT like them.
So I'm hoping by sharing this that I'm preventing some of you from a quarter life crisis.

I ended up ordering MAC's Mineralize Skinfinish Powder and I'm really excited to use it.
Does anyone use that as their foundation?!
I'm not really a big makeup person and that's what initially drew me toward bare minerals,
the make up was very natural looking and I LOVED that.

I'm just now on a mission to find an excellent powder foundation that has good coverage,
looks natural, and does not make me a grease monkey within 15 minutes.

Have any of you encountered the same problem?!

Wellp, today I'm making my very first pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving tomorrow!
Fingers crossed it's actually edible!

xoxo, Monica

Friends and Faux Fur

On Saturday Kyle and I headed north to hang out with some friends and family!
The weather was pretty nasty but we weren't going to let that stop us from enjoying our weekend
So a bunch of us all headed to Top Golf.
I didnt get many pictures while we were there [what's new right?]
But we had so much fun!
All of the girls sat around and talked [& laughed our butts off] while the boys were playing golf and making bets.

I drank a little too much beer and ate WAY too much cheese.

but hey, that's nothing out of the ordinary.

I DID manage to get a picture with my sister right before her and Jonathan left!

My friend April had her baby yesterday,
Both mom and baby are perfectly healthy!
My sweet friend Rachel, who was with us Saturday but that I didnt get any pictures with
is due in less than 2 weeks!!
Gosh, there are just so many babies entering the world lately!

Who is as pumped about Thanksgiving as I am?!
I'm just excited to be around family and eat until I drop.

Only 2 more days!

Have a fabulous day ladies.

xoxo, Monica

Catching Up and Holding Off.

Sweater: ShopMCE.com
Tights: windsorstore.com
Boots: LuLus.com

Last Friday my friends Jenn, Liz and I headed up to the hospital to visit our sweet friend April!
April is pregnant with her first baby and her water broke 5 weeks early,
They managed to hold the baby off for an entire week, unlucky for her she had to
stay in the hospital the entire time, but we are so thankful her and baby are okay!
She is actually being induced today.
So if you have time say a little prayer for her and sweet baby Rachel Rose!

All 4 of us went to the same high school and basically grew up together.
It was SO much fun catching up and just talking about how life is now.
We are all SO excited to meed her sweet little girl.

On another note...how cute is my sweater?!
It's the PERFECT sweater for a casual/comfy day.
It's loose fitting and you can basically wear it as a dress with tights (like I did)
If you aren't too tall!

So head on over to my boutique and grab one for yourself!
We have 2 colors available,
and we also have the SAME top in other colors but it doesn't fit quite as big.
So go now! >>>>  <3

Fur + Plaid and A Little Help From My Friends.

Plaid Top: LuLus.com (this is an XS, and it's HUGE)
Tights: forever 21
Boots: LuLus.com

Fur & Plaid are one of my favorite combos,
and this vest from my boutique was TOO cute to not keep one for myself.
It has 3 clasp closures and it is SO soft, I honestly can't believe it is faux fur.

So I know I've been having all kinds of blog problems lately,
and I need some hellllpppppp from y'all.
I just realized that my "followers" section isn't working.
Any ideas on how to fix this?!
Is there some kind of blogger help center I can contact?

I'm going to start getting MORE serious in this little blog land of mine,
and start posting more regularly AND catch up on all of you lovely ladies blogs...
BUT I need to fix this problem first.
So I'm begging you, please, for the love of God...
Help a girl out.

Last night I made Baked Potato Soup in the crock pot.
Holy YUM!
I was a little nervous about it but it turned out super good.

Thanks mom for hooking me up with this recipe! <3

It's honestly the easiest recipe ever.

So here it is...
[how good does that look?]

1 30oz. bag of frozen diced hash browns
1 32 oz box of chicken broth
1 can of cream of chicken soup (10 oz)
1 pkg. cream cheese (8 oz, not fat free)
3 oz bacon bits
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
salt and pepper to taste

Put the potatoes in the crockpot. Add in the chicken broth, cream of chicken soup and half of the bacon bits. Add a pinch of salt and pepper.
Cook on low for 8 hours or until potatoes are tender.
An hour before serving, cut the cream cheese into small cubes. Place the cubes in the crock pot. Mix a few times throughout the hour before serving.
Once the cream cheese is completely mixed in, it's ready to serve.
Top with cheddar cheese and some additional bacon bits

Y'all, this stuff was GOOD.
I made some garlic bread to go along with it and it was perfect.
Husband approved, puppy approved, and I definitely approved.

Make this tonight for your family and tell me what you think!

The week is almost over!
Have a wonderful Wednesday pretty girls.

xoxo, Monica

Oh Honey Butter, How I Love You.

Scarf: thrifted
Jeans: Kohls
Boots: Forever21.com (similar)
Beanie: Nordstrom.com

On Saturday, after spending all morning in our PJ's watching Sons of Anarchy...
I decided to make Kyle take me on a little lunch date!

I'll give you one guess where we went....

This picture should be a dead giveaway.

I ate probably 7 rolls...like no joke, the honey butter addiction is real.
Did I ever tell y'all that I bought large amounts of this butter freshman year of college?
I literally put it on everything...15 lbs later I realized I should probably stop, haha.
Ya live and ya learn.

So, Charley got spayed about 2 weeks ago and we've had to kind of limit her activity.
Which has been a PAIN for me because her energy is ridiculous.
I haven't been able to take her on our every day walk/jogs and
we haven't taken her to the dog park in what seems like forever...

But TODAY we are finally taking her to the dog park!
She should be fully healed and I am so happy it's sunny out and we can take her.
We are going to freeze our buns off but I am beyond excited for her to get all of her energy out.
She is seriously a handful...like I've never felt more prepared for parenthood...

Okay, maybe I wouldn't go that far...but still, she is a lot to handle.

I'm making baked potato soup in the crock pot for dinner tonight
and I'm SO excited to see how it turns out!!
I'll be sure to share the recipe if it's as good as I think it's going to be.

Happy Tuesday y'all!

I'm going to be hosting a Giveaway on the blog tomorrow so make sure you stop by!!

xoxo, Monica

A Wedding and a Photo Shoot Fail.

So Kyle and I went to his cousins wedding last weekend,

and I LOVED my outfit.
Unfortunately we were short on time and didnt get a chance to do the typical
photo shoot before leaving.

This means I did the photo shoot last night....
in the semi freezing cold, windy & rainy weather.
Therefore NONE of the pictures turned out how I wanted,
and these pictures do NOT do justice of how cute my outfit really was in person.
*insert dramatic sad face here*
Most of the pics are blurry from the rain and me shivering and what not...
But oh well, these will have to do!

Okay y'all, this jacket is AMAZING.
I got a million and one compliments
and you can't see all of its amazingness in my pictures but...
you can see more HERE

Please excuse the wrinkles,
oh and apparently I was supposed to tie the two straps hanging down around my waist, whoops.

Kyle's brother Bryan and his girlfriend Skye rode with us to the wedding!
We got there, got ready and then headed off to the venue.

The wedding was beautiful and we are so so happy for them.
Here are a few pictures of us at the rehearsal.

Kyle with his dad and little brother.

Father in Law! <3

 Anddddd that's a wrap!
We had such an amazing time and are SO happy for Jacob and Mandi!

It has been sooooo cold here in Houston!
and I can't tell if I love it or hate it,
I'm definitely loving that I get to whip out all of my favorite Fall and Winter clothes!

Happy Monday y'all!

We enjoyed a nice little mexican feast and I got to get more baby cuddles!!

I'm so glad we were able to visit our friends even if it was for just a short time.
and I am SO glad it's Friday!!

Hope all of you have an amazing weekend!

Two Outfits and A Sweet Baby Boy.

Monday morning Kyle and I headed to good ol' San Antonio!
He had a work event there,
and I tagged along because one of my close friends just had her 2nd baby!
Eeeee I was so excited to see that sweet little boy fresh out of the oven!

My friend makes THE cutest babies.
I was so so excited to meet baby Sawyer,
he is even more precious than I thought he was, and SUCH a big boy!
He's barely a week old and already wearing 3 month clothes.

I couldn't stop staring at him and poking his squishy cheeks.
He's literally perfect.

Needless to say I fell in love immediately.

That night Kyle and I headed to dinner with his cousin Corey who lives in SA.
And it was finally cool enough to whip out my favorite scarf!

I've been DYING to wear those precious leopard booties since I got them.
I cannot wait to style them even more this Winter!!!!
